Narara Valley High School and Community Music Program receives national recognition for impact on community wellbeing and has been named one of 24 national finalists in the second annual Music in Communities Awards.

Its selection, from entries across Australia, brings it one step closer to a share of the $20,000 prize pool in the Awards, run by ‘Music. School and Community Music is offering an exciting opportunity for students from beginners to advanced to further develop their skills and broaden their musical experience under the guidance of highly qualified and experienced professional musicians and teachers. The Summer School will be at Narara Valley High between the 13-15 Jan 2010. Find our more and download registration form by clicking here.

Anyone in Years 7-12 is welcome to join the band, even if you are a completed beginner not having touched an instrument before and unsure of what you would like to play. About the NV's: The School Band is run by the school music department, a parent committee and assisted by  School and Community Music.

The band usually goes on tour once every two or three years. In 2006 they travelled to Japan where they played at the Edogawa Citizens Festival, Tokyo Disney Sea and various other events in Tokyo as guests of Edogawa City. In 2008 they traveled to Queensland to compete in the Band Nationals and they have just returned from a very successful trip to New Zealand. In addition to this they also play at various events in the local area.

Students of all levels are able go on Tour.  Any overseas excursions occur mainly in school holidays. Fund raising does take place to assist with costs.
